The upcoming Korean action-comedy Officer Black Belt tells the story of Lee Jung Do, who is an expert in taekwondo, kendo, and judo with a ninth dan (level). He teams up with probation supervisor Kim Seon Min to monitor individuals who are wearing electronic ankle bracelets and prevent crimes.
In the film, Kim Woo Bin portrays the character of Lee Jung Do, a young man who cannot ignore someone in need. Although he appears to be an ordinary and kind individual, there is something unique about him that sets him apart from others. He possesses expertise in martial arts, holding black belts in taekwondo, kendo, and judo, with a total of 9 dan. By chance, Lee Jung Do rescues a police officer from an attack by a criminal wearing an electronic anklet. He then takes on the role of a substitute officer for an extended period of time, and the story unfolds from there.
Kim Sung Kyun portrays Kim Seon Min, a man who transforms into a probation officer to supervise dangerous criminals wearing electronic anklets as he believes that helping others is his calling. While working, he recognizes the expertise and strategy of Lee Jung Do, his temporary partner, and recommends that he become an official martial arts officer. Kim Seon Min's sense of duty and competence leads to a successful collaboration with Lee Jung Do, whose fighting skills can quickly subdue the offenders.
Officer Black Belt explores the thrilling world of officers who ensure the safety of the community by utilising their teamwork and unique crime-fighting abilities. This action comedy is helmed by Jason Kim, who recently directed a hit Korean series Bloodhounds.
