Black Friday 2023 has now been and gone, so you absolutely shouldn't be waiting around at this point. It's unlikely that we're going to see any bigger discounts across the weekend and during the upcoming Cyber Monday sales, so we'd advise that you jump on these deals quickly - they won't stick around forever, and if stock runs low at retailers they might disappear before the sales period ends.

When will the best Black Friday MacBook Pro deals start in 2023?

Black Friday took place on November 24 this year, but that doesn’t mean there aren't still sales going on. Plenty of deals remain active and will likely stay that way until after Cyber Monday on November 27.

Examining trends from previous years, sales on computer hardware generally begin to show up in mid-to-late October, spiking in the week leading up to Thanksgiving (November 23). The week of November 20 saw a boatload of early discounts, many of which are still available, so keep your eyes peeled.

What specs should I look for when buying a MacBook Pro on Black Friday?

Unlike the best Windows laptops, the MacBook Pro has a relatively small pool of different models. The main three factors are screen size, processor, and storage. The newest models - which likely won’t see big sales - are the 14-inch and 16-inch M2 Pro/M2 Max version, which can come with up to 4TB of storage and 96GB of memory.

Ultimately, screen size will be the most important factor for most users, since it affects the entire size of the laptop. If you want a super-compact model that is easy to take around with you, keep your eyes out for a 13-inch MacBook Pro (M2). If you’re planning on mostly keeping it plugged in at home or work, consider a 16-inch model instead.

Storage is of course key, but shouldn’t be the deciding factor. Even the lowest-end MacBook Pros still pack a minimum of 256GB in the storage department, which is plenty for most users - and there’s always the option to hook up an external hard drive if you need more space. The majority of MacBook Pro configurations have the same 512GB standard.

Another critical consideration is memory. This will determine how many apps you can run at once, and generally how responsive they are. The more memory, the better, but unless you're doing professional content creation work like video editing, you're not likely to need more than 32GB memory, and even 16GB memory is perfectly fine for most professional users.

If all you are looking to do is more everyday, general use computing and productivity work, then the MacBook Pro might not actually be what you need.
